Are Your Email Messages
Looking Good?
Only send email to targeted groups of people:
You must have a reason to email people. They must have requested information from
you. That is the only way you can be sure they have interest in
what you are offering.
Spend as much time on your subject line as the body of your message:
It doesn't matter what you write in your email, if it doesn't get read. You must spend
as much time on your headline as you do writing the message itself!
Personalize every single email:
If you fail to do use the persons first name in your email messages don't expect
to get it read.
Make sure your opening paragraph packs a punch:
Once your headline is working and people open your email, don't blow it! You're entire
sales pitch should be summarized in the opening paragraph. Make
reference to your headline, build the excitement and give them a
real big promise or benefit to read further.
Make sure it's nicely formatted and easy to read:
Your message should wrap all lines at 65 characters or less. It's
a good idea to get in the habit of using 60 characters per line.
Why? Because most Ezines use this line length - if you will be advertising
in Ezines you'll automatically prepare your ads in an acceptable
format. Here's a
neat little online tool to start using to format your messages
-- automatically and FREE!
Make sure your email is easy to reply to:
Never use false email addresses in your messages, even if you're using an autoresponder
to deliver them. Your readers should be able to reply to your message
by simply hitting the "reply" button in their email program.
Beat the filters:
Over the last couple of years, there has been an increase in untargeted email, and
some of the larger ISP's have tried to combat this by using filters to try and catch
some of the unwanted mail.
This is great, unless of course these filters stop your genuine email as well.
The best solution that I have found is to check your messages at
this site. I have had exceptional
results using this.
Make sure they know how it's from:
Your readers will be more likely to read your messages once you've established
a relationship with them. Use your own name - not your email address.
You need to set this in your particular email program. Check out
the help files if you don't know how and send yourself messages
to test it.
