Many small business web hosts may appear to be offering you a good
deal BUT --
You need to be absolutely sure they're not going to charge you for every little
extra service that you need. This may not be obvious at first.
Much of the popular software such as
autoresponder or
ad tracking software has minimum requirements or it won't run.
A checklist that will help you avoid this is provided below.
 |
How many "MySql" databases do they allow? |
 |
Can you set up MySql databases yourself? |
 |
Do they offer unrestricted Cgi-Bin access? |
 |
Do they support at least php 4.0? |
 |
Can you set cron events from the control panel? |
 |
Do they even offer an online control panel? |
 |
Can you run Perl 5 or higher? |
 |
Do they support "Zend Optimizer" 1.1.0 or higher? |
Even though you may not understand some of the technical issues
above, they will still become an issue for the programmer you hire
to install software on your server and the only solution, if there's
a problem, will be to move your entire site to a new provider that
does support the above.
Better to get it right from the outset and using a provider such
as wwKiosk
who'll provide you with a whopping 300MB disk space.
I highly recommend you take a look at the
website hosting that wwKiosk has to offer. Of course, you can always email me and
I'll be happy to help with any questions you may have.
